Hydraulic Ram Pumps
use water to pump water |
Hydraulic
Ram Water Pumps have been used for many years to move water without electricity.
Our B & L ram pumps are made of
PVC for low cost, low weight and good performance. Inlet pipe to the water ram
pump must be 3’-15’
higher than ram pump with at least 3 gallons per minute (gpm) for operation. To lift
water 30’ above ram pump, a 3’ input drop will work (a 10 to 1 ratio). A 6’ input
drop ( a 5 to 1 ratio) would increase flow. Calculate flow rate with this
formula: V x F x 0.5 ÷ E = D.
Volume of available water flow in gpm is V, vertical fall from water
source to ram is F, vertical lift from hydraulic ram pump to top of delivery pipe is
E and flow rate in gpm delivered is D. Use our hydraulic ram pumps with a spring, dam overflow, stream with enough drop to pump water
for garden, orchard, livestock, pond, house cooling. Use more than one hydraulic ram
pump for
more water pumped. Two valves are included with 1”,1½” & 2” models.
Discharge valve is 1/2" on 1" ram and is 1" on the 1½" and 2" ram. |

Intake pipe is same diameter as hydraulic ram pump.
Intake pipe must be at least 5 times longer than fall. If the fall is 3’
then the intake pipe must be at least 15’ long. If the intake pipe is much
over 5 times longer, then a stand pipe should be used to vent air. A quality
garden hose can be used for discharge pipe.
Picture shows: 1. Amount of water needed? 2. Flow in gallons per minute. 3.
Fall or vertical drop. 4. Vertical lift to discharge. 5.Horizontal distance form source to ram. 6. Length of delivery pipe.
We can special order very heavy built metal Rife ram pumps for
larger lifts and volume.

Highlifter Water Pump
powered by water pressure |
This is different from the normal hydraulic ram pumps.
Water pressure moves pistons to pump water. At least 1 quart of water flow
with a pressure
of 6 to 60 psi (14'-138') is required. Model H44 is rated maximum 1500 gallons per day,
440’ maximum lift. Model H49 is rated 750 gallons per day, 1000’ maximum lift.
Volume of water pumped depends on lift, input pressure and input flow rate.
The replaceable seals normally last about 1-3 years in continuous operation.
Made of stainless steel, Teflon and acrylic, safe for drinking water, 26"
long. 1 year warranty from manufacturer. Information sheet available.
